On this list of Seychelles luxury hotels and resorts there is an odd one out. It's the Hilton Seychelles Northolme Hotel. This nice and cosy luxury hotel at Glacis Seychelles, stands on a bluff that juts out into the sea between two very small secluded beaches in small coves.

Yes it is definitely by the sea but there is no "real" beach there - well not one to write home about.

To get to the nearest really nice beach of Beau Vallon from there you'll have to go by car unless you don't mind walking several hundred metres on a relatively busy, narrow, twisting road.

But if you're like me and like to get out of your hotel and onto a world-class beach then here is our recommendation for our favourite two Seychelles luxury hotels in Mahe:

• Fisherman's Cove Hotel and Resort at Beau Vallon Beach
• Banyan Tree Seychelles Resort at Intendance Beach

Those two luxury hotels are situated right beside two of the best 10 beaches of Seychelles.
