Best Seychelles beach - Ptit Anse La Digue

Our list of "10" is actually made up of 12 islands. Why? Well... First of all, Mahe Island had to be in there simply for its number of incredible beaches. At least three of them feature in our top 10 Seychelles beaches. There are over 70 beaches around Mahe.

After all 74,000 people cannot be wrong in choosing it for their home. And as for our number 1, Bird Island, how could 2 million birds make such a mistake flying so far to breed? :-)

Best Seychelles Island for fly-fishing and snorkelling - Alphonse Island

These are migratory seabirds that travel thousands of miles every year just to nest and raise their chicks on this magnificent sand cay (key). They call it home for 4 to 5 months of the year - May to September.

I definitely agree with the birds. You'll be amazed when you first set foot on Bird Island especially if you arrive by boat. You can of course fly there. It is indeed unique among the islands of Seychelles. A day there is unforgettable.

We could not separate the islands of Cousin and Cousine. They are both just as worthy in the number 3 spot, in this list of top 10 islands... Since they are next-door neighbours and small you can enjoy both islands in one day.

And of all the Seychelles, Bijoutier (Jeweller Island) is featured here as a bonus island because of its size, charm, character, sheer beauty, richness in underwater diversity, and the superb fishing around the island.

Here it is. Of all the islands, here is our favourite Seychelles island. Out of 155 Bijoutier Island with its "necklace beach" scores top marks.

Can you imagine a day at the beach? Yes this beach! Can you imagine owning this beauty?

What more can I add after this? Except to give you directions how to get there perhaps...

 

Questions: "How big is it?" It is about the size of a football field. It is a real jewel, isn't it? ...The reason I guess for its name. But I've always wondered why Bijoutier, which means "Jeweller".

No there is no accommodation on this pearl... And camping is not allowed anywhere in the Seychelles. But you can still visit this gem of a Seychelles island. And one thing you can be sure of is this: There won't be anyone else there, but you.

Flying there by helicopter may be an option but the absolute best is to set sail. You can charter a yacht from Mahe if you enjoy sailing. It lies to the south of the Amirantes group of Seychelles islands, some 150 miles from Mahe.

From Alphonse Island, which has an airstrip for light aircrafts, the amazing Bijoutier Island is only a short boat trip away, but you may have to swim ashore. :).
