So there it is... the Lemuria Resort's property covering 250 acres with its 3 lovely beaches at the northwest tip of Praslin. And if you look carefully at the above picture, way back, at the far left, you can just discern the most amazing Anse Lazio - indisputable, the absolutely best beach on Praslin Island and one of Seychelles best beaches.

And it's quite close to Lemuria's Anse Georgette Beach, which is taking centre stage here, and regarded as the island's second-best beach. Those two beaches, just over a mile apart, are head and shoulders above the rest. To say they are just superb would be a major understatement. You've got to see them!

The location of the resort...

The location of the Lemuria Hotel is just fantastic. It's sitting on 2 wonderful beaches, plus a third, Anse Georgette, one of the best beaches in the world, only a short walk away, or a buggy ride. And it is on such an amazing island.

The accommodation...

The accommodation at Lemuria Hotel is of very high standard and it is in the most beautiful setting - in a natural garden. Constructed of natural materials - wood, stone and the roofs thatched with palm leaves - it blends in well with its surroundings.

The hotel is all suites and villas (total 105 units) and they are all by the beach - just a few paces to the beach with amazing views on the sea from your own terrace or balcony. And the sunsets here are just incredible. You have a choice of junior suites, senior suites or pool villas.

But just a word of caution regarding the villas...

The pool villas come with a private butler. If you're not used to having a butler hanging around the house and much value your privacy perhaps you would like to consider the senior suites instead unless you can arrange before hand to have the villa without the butler...! I doubt it.

Ask yourself this: Why do you need a butler on holiday? Why do you need another shadow?

The beaches...

Lemuria's Anse Georgette is an outstanding beach though small with excellent fine white sand and beautiful warm turquoise sea. It's a superb and exclusive beach with plenty of shade. But it's pretty far away from the main buildings of Lemuria Hotel.

It's a 15 to 20 minute trek across the golf course and the way is somewhat hilly, but as residents of the hotel you can get a ride on the golf buggies that are shuttling to and from the beach regularly, perhaps every hour.

Anse Georgette is pure nature - yes there are no facilities there - and that's what makes it even more wonderful. And Lemuria is committed to keeping it undeveloped. Great as this beach is you'll probably find no more than half a dozen people there at anytime. Go early. Then it's deserted...

But make no mistake: this is one of the great beaches of Seychelles and ranked number 2 on Praslin. It is better than the picture-postcards you've seen. So don't miss this little gem on your doorstep. One of the best beaches in the world awaits you at Lemuria Hotel.

And talking of great beaches, make sure you don't miss the best, which is just a 10-minute boat ride away from the hotel. Yes, that's Anse Lazio and without a doubt, the number 1 beach on the island. If you like hiking it is but an hour's walk along a trail from the resort.

Otherwise, by car it's no less than 45 minutes as you have to drive almost all the way around the island to get there. But no matter how you do it, it's worth the trouble.

Anse Georgette - the jewel in the crown

The second beach at the Lemuria Resort is Petit Anse Kerlan. This is calm with crystal clear water - it's superb for swimming and snorkelling. And it's suitable for children too. Here you can also avail yourself of water-sports facilities at the boathouse.

In keeping with, what the hotel calls, its conservation policy, only non-motorised water sports are available: windsurfers, hobbie cats, laser sail boats, kayaks, body boards, pedalos, snorkelling equipment...

The third beach is the Grand Anse Kerlan Beach, which runs in front of most of the hotel's lodges but it's not always suitable for swimming. At certain times of the year it's very rough with big breakers.

And it can even be dangerous at times with very strong currents and undertow. So keep your distance... But not to worry... Crystal clear water for swimming is just around the corner at Petite Anse Kerlan Beach.

Grand Anse Kerlan is the longest of the three beaches with beautiful fine white sands and a great place for a romantic stroll anytime. And of course the sunsets here are fantastic - absolutely gorgeous.

Another beach on Praslin that we strongly recommend is the longest beach and perhaps the most popular on the island - Cote d'Or Beach. This too is a fantastic beach with calm, clear water.

It's along the northern coast where you'll also find several cafes, restaurants and hotels too. It's definitely worth a visit to complement your experience at Lemuria Hotel. It's only 30 to 35 minutes' drive from the resort. And if you drive to Anse Lazio, it's on the way, so you can stop by on the way back

The food...

There are 3 restaurants and 4 bars at the Lemuria Hotel. The main restaurant is absolutely superb with themed 5-star buffets. It is top class and the various dishes are very well prepared and nicely presented with excellent service, worthy of its 5-star status.

Breakfast there is a big buffet, with a good choice of everything you could possibly want and evening meals are excellent...

The Beach Grill and Seahorse are the other two restaurants of the Lemuria Hotel. They are both a la carte. The Beach Grill is our favourite and it's located at the junction of the two beaches, so you have a delightful view on both Grand Anse Kerlan and Petite Anse Kerlan.

Here you also have an unobstructed view on the two offshore islands, Cousin and Cousine. Plus... there is that wonderful ambience seated at a table by the sea in such a magnificent place.

And before dinner, the beach bar is also the best place to catch sight of the most wonderful sunsets over the ocean. So grab your sundowner cocktail and enjoy.

All 3 restaurants are well placed and they serve delicious food of high quality. There's no lack of choice and it's well cooked and tasty. Of course it doesn't come cheap. But, hey, this is 5-star-resort prices in the Seychelles!

Absolutely! Food and drinks are expensive at Lemuria Hotel, though it's to be expected at a resort of such quality. Prices there reflect the 5-star status of the hotel, its great location and its Seychelles address. Yes, you pay for all that.

In the evening there is some live entertainment in the bar area and this is your chance to discover Creole music and the folk dances of Seychelles. But you'll find the price of alcoholic drinks very high at the bar...

Some say it's absurdly high. But it's not only at Lemuria Hotel. The cost of alcoholic drinks in Seychelles is always prohibitively excessive, especially spirits. Yes that's so!

The main reason is that excise duty on alcohol is high here and it reflects the government's attempt to curb alcohol consumption in Seychelles, especially spirits. At least that's what they say.

But don't expect the duty on alcohol to be reduced anytime soon as it is a major component in government income. You won't find cheap liquor anywhere in Seychelles. So here's a tip...

To enjoy cheap cocktails in Seychelles...

Stock up your mini-bar fridge from the nearby shops and bring your own duty-free spirits, as each adult entering Seychelles is permitted to bring in with them a litre of spirit and a litre of wine duty free.

So use your allotment and enjoy your cocktails on your own terrace or balcony, then you do not have to pay through the nose at the bar - any bar in Seychelles!

Conclusion...

Lemuria Hotel is one of the most superb 5 star hotels and resorts in the Seychelles. You can use many superlatives to describe this little corner of paradise. But in one word? Excellent!

The hotel, the location, the rooms, the food, the beach, and the staff are just excellent. It has a great ambiance and the service on the whole is very good.

I would say, Lemuria Resort is an excellent upmarket hotel with pleasant staff and great service in a unique, superb, exotic location. You'll eat well here and it's a good place to unwind and relax.

But more importantly you've got to see Constance Lemuria Resort of Praslin in the larger context of Seychelles...

These islands are a wonderful vacation destination with some of the best beaches in the world and the Lemuria beach resort is a great place to stay on the island of Praslin and enjoy some of those wonderful beaches.

 

Budget more than you think you'll need, relax and enjoy these wonders of nature. For Seychelles Lemuria Hotel is great value for money. Many complain about the price of food and drinks here, but this is absurd.

If someone really feels this way it simply means they're in the wrong place - either the wrong hotel or the wrong destination altogether. It appears that they're attempting to defy the wise old saying: You should cut your coat according to your cloth. But...

There are cheaper hotels in Seychelles that can suit a lower budget. Lemuria Hotel is for the well-heeled. And sure, you've got to budget much more for your little luxuries at Lemuria Seychelles.

But remember, this hotel is not just any 5-star hotel in some run-of-the-mill location. It is a top luxury Seychelles Resort. And if you don't lose sight of that fact, then you'll have a super luxury Seychelles holiday. Yes, this needs to be stressed - a Seychelles holiday  in luxury.

Hey, you can't run a Rolls Royce on paraffin... meaning: this is a 5-star luxury accommodation in the Seychelles! So it comes with a Seychelles price tag. And if you can afford it, then...

You'll be treated like a king and queen at Lemuria Hotel... You'll pay much for this privilege but, why not if it's your honeymoon? Or perhaps you're contemplating to get married on the island!

On Praslin this hotel is in a league of its own. And if you're looking for an extraordinary romantic luxury getaway in paradise, this is it - the place.
