La Reserve Hotel is only a couple of minutes from Cote d'Or Beach, and 10 minutes from the world famous Anse Lazio Beach. Just keep driving another 3 minutes after you pass the end of that long beach at Cote d'Or.

It is about 30 minutes from the Praslin airport and 15 minutes from the Baie Sainte Anne ferry jetty. It sits on its own small beach at Anse Petite Cour overlooking Curieuse Island and its marine park. You can see a map of Praslin here.

La Reserve Hotel Praslin is one of the 4-star Seychelles luxury hotels in Praslin Island. It is located on the northern coast of the famous "island of palms." A medium-size hotel on a 200-acre estate with well-landscaped gardens, it has 40 large nicely furnished rooms - 8 superior and 32 deluxe - all with very spacious ensuite bathroom that has a bath tub as well as a walk-in shower.

All the rooms are right next to the beach except for 4 superior rooms, which are housed in a single colonial style building that stands by itself on the hillside. But this too is in a superb location.

Each room, which are in blocks of four in two-storey buildings, has a nice terrace with deck chairs where you can just sit for hours gazing upon the beautiful panoramic view over the sea and Curieuse Island a mile offshore.

The hotel is on a secluded beach that borders Curieuse National Marine Park, which makes for great snorkelling with an abundance of fish and sea turtles just off the beach. The area is well sheltered by reefs, so it's ideal for that.

The rooms have all the comfort you may wish for including air conditioner and ceiling fan, a romantic, king-size, four-poster bed and well-designed, wooden furniture, satellite television and mini-bar fridge, tea and coffee maker, and more.

As you arrive you are greeted by a very large swimming pool that wraps around a bar and grill where you get served lunch. Talking of bars there are a total of 3 to choose from of which my personal favourite is the beach bar. It has a much better view.

If you like the feel of something exotic get ready to be blown away by dinner at the Pier restaurant. Not only is the food superb but also the ambience is quite unique. After eating there you may not want to try other eateries in the area.

That's where you'll also have breakfast as you watch all kinds of fish swimming right under your table, so to speak. La Reserve Hotel Praslin does make you feel appreciative of nature, the natural beauty of the surrounding area and the sea...

If that's not enough you can go join the fish crowding around below later as snorkelling equipment is provided free. And that's not all that's complimentary at La Reserve Hotel Praslin. There are kayaks too... The hotel also organises many excursions. And don't worry. You can keep your wallet in your pocket. And that's a real departure from the usual attitude of gouging the unsuspecting tourist.

La Reserve Hotel takes good care of its guests. In the afternoon tea or coffee is served with cakes and sandwiches. Enjoy it. It's free but do take part in those activities at the hotel that will ensure you keep a close watch on those "extra pounds." :).

There is more to enjoy at La Reserve Hotel Praslin. You'll have live entertainment too, 3 times a week. Enjoy the sensual and suggestive dancing by enchanting traditional dancers performing to the 'moutya' and 'sega' rhythms of the islands.

When you think of Praslin places that naturally come to mind are Anse Lazio Beach and the UNESCO world heritage site of Vallee de Mai... At La Reserve, just let the hotel organise these excursions for you. You'll have them complimentary or almost free. In the end all that saves you a bundle.

La Reserve Hotel Praslin is very nice and cosy. It is very well situated. From there you can walk to Cote d'Or Beach in just a few minutes where you can also enjoy many more restaurants, but the interesting thing here is that this one is a very long beach - in fact the longest on Praslin with many more hotels, the first being Paradise Sun Hotel. To get there, just turn left from your hotel.

In the opposite direction is Anse Lazio, the queen of all beaches in Seychelles but you'll have to go by car or by boat. It's only 10 minutes away. I think you'll like La Reserve so much that when you leave you'll probably be starting to plan your next Seychelles vacation. Your Praslin travel and holiday will be so amazing, thanks to your choice of hotel - La Reserve Praslin, a paradise within paradise.

Why is La Reserve Hotel so nice? It's the attention to detail and perhaps because it is a family-run and owned hotel. Some say: La Reserve Praslin should indeed be rated as a five-star hotel. Perhaps so, but for us personally the beach, although secluded, is not good enough. Remember we've been to hundreds of beaches all over Seychelles.

 

And that is why I personally prefer the Cote d'Or hotels, as I like to be right on my preferred beach wherever possible. But hey, rent a car and then you have it all - a luxury hotel at an affordable price with all the little extras and within easy reach of the best Praslin beaches.
