AKA Taj Denis Island Seychelles, it is a private island and a place for a most romantic an exotic vacation. So expect to do the unusual and have fun.
Have you read the previous page Denis Island part 1? If so, let's carry on. Here are the popular activities on this island:
Others prefer to come just relax - yes do absolutely nothing, or perhaps just take a stroll on the beach at sunset and if you're an early riser, then at sunrise and enjoy a cool morning breeze. Dawn is a beautiful time of day too.
In addition you could spend time in your courtyard reading or just enjoy the fantastic panorama over the sea from your veranda or take a long siesta in your hammock after lunch. And a romantic stroll on the beach hand in hand under starlight brings a new dimension to a honeymoon.
Game fishing and scuba diving are year-round activities on Denis Island. The sea, here, is very rich and you can see such species as manta rays, turtles and even whale sharks too during the second half of the year.

Trophy size marlins and sailfish are often caught. Bonefishing is another type of fly-fishing possible while wading the inner flats or you could try your hand at one of the more popular pastimes in Seychelles - "bottom fishing" with real bait, just like the locals do.
A guide will take you to where the fish are only a few hundred metres from shore. There you'll catch snappers, permits, groupers, parrotfish, trevallies, barracudas and a hundred others...
You won't really get bored on Denis Island. If you are more into land-based activities you can practise your golf on the 1200-m airfield, or play some tennis nearer the cottages.
There are also safe nature trails that crisscross this flat island and that can keep you occupied for at least a couple of days, if you like hiking. But be mindful of the hazards of falling coconuts, so stay on the trails and avoid walking directly under the palm trees and perhaps get a hard hat too.
And for bird-watching holidays in the Seychelles you should know that this is a haven for some very rare bird species including the Seychelles Fody, the Seychelles Magpie Robin and the Seychelles Paradise Flycatcher. And you'll find lots of land-based seabirds too in addition to many other more common Seychelles birds.

Crossing the airstrip to the second half of the island you can witness some traditional island activities like vanilla production and coconut processing among other farm activities. Be on the look out for the sun dryer and the copra dryer that has been burned to the ground several times.
Also here is where you'll see one of Seychelles historical monuments, an iron framework, which towers above the nearby trees - the famous Denis Island Lighthouse. It was built some 150 years ago and it serves as one of the markers of the northern approaches to the outer harbour and Port of Victoria 60 miles away.
I believe it is still in use and run by the port authorities. They have a long-term lease for that small part of the island. I have been up that tower and I can tell you that it is gas-lit and the whole thing is very basic but interesting nonetheless.
Unfortunately, during its existence over the years it did not prevent several shipwrecks on the reefs of Denis Island Seychelles! But to be fair, many of the mishaps occurred in daylight hours.
On this part of the island you'll also see the "old village" and the livestock farm, which makes the island self-sufficient in pork and poultry. Coming this far you will no doubt like to see the quaint little chapel too where many islanders have said: "I do."

One such wedding ceremony was actually performed by no less than the Bishop of Victoria himself.
So if you're looking for a place for a most memorable wedding complete with Christian chapel ceremony then Denis Island may be worth considering.
And even without this little extra it's still the perfect place for a beautiful honeymoon.
Denis Island Seychelles hasn't changed much in the last 30 years other than you can now experience a more comfortable, luxury vacation, and come to think of it otherwise this private island is pretty much like it was 100 years ago. And you'll be having a unique and memorable Seychelles holiday here.
To sum it up you'll find on Denis:
In comparison, Denis is like Bird Island but twice as big, with less birds and more comfort, aimed at high-end consumers. And if you come to Seychelles during your winter months you would no doubt like to know that the cottages are all air-conditioned.
Now go enjoy your vacation on Denis Island Seychelles. And after you have, why not share your holiday story here? Thank you.
