This hotel, one of the more affordable hotels in Mahe Seychelles is a 3-star hotel located right on the beach - Beau Vallon Beach, considered by many to be the finest beach on Mahe Island. It is located on the northwest coast.

Built in 1972, the Coral Strand was one of the first two bigger budget hotels in Seychelles to open its doors as the country ventured tentatively into tourism with the opening of the Seychelles International airport.

It is one of the cheaper medium-class resort hotels in Mahe Seychelles, and popular with beach lovers and divers.

The Coral was renovated and extended in 2000 and the hotel now has 132 rooms and suites in an H-shaped 4-storey building right on the beach.

But in the main it hasn't changed much over the years. It still remains a meeting place for visitors and locals on the most popular beach of Seychelles - the place to witness and enjoy a fabulous sunset any day of the year.

The Coral Strand Hotel is 15 km from the Seychelles airport and 5 km to Victoria, the capital of Seychelles. Another way to put it - it's 30 minutes to the airport and 10 minutes from Victoria.

As one of the budget hotels in Seychelles, it has a 3-star rating but it is located on one of the best beaches of Mahe, if not the best.

And with a few exceptions, most 5-star resorts in Seychelles do not have the Coral Strand Hotel's beach advantage! If you are after a 5-star hotel rather than cheap hotels in Seychelles then take a walk down the beach - to the very end of that same beach.

The Fisherman's Cove Hotel at the end of the beach is 5-star all the way! It was the first luxury hotel built in Seychelles. Don't stop at the first big hotel along the beach. That's the Beau Vallon Bay Hotel, which is just another 3-star hotel - one of the very big cheap hotels.

The Coral Strand Hotel has friendly staff, and it is suitable for families with young children, and younger people in general. As noted before, it is in a superb location with a great dive centre and comprehensive water-sports facilities.

If you love the sea, it's definitely worth considering Coral Strand Hotel, one of the cheap hotels in Mahe Seychelles.

Most of the rooms at the hotel have a balcony with a wonderful sea view but some standard rooms have no view - well not much to talk about. You look out over the parking lot. These rooms sell at a 5% discount...

Remember you are at arms length of the best beach in Mahe. And you've been directed to one of the cheap hotels in Mahe Seychelles. Are you going to take 5% discount to "guard" the cars? Come on now!

A superb view awaits you just a few steps away. And that's a feast for the senses.

From the balcony of the "superior" ocean view rooms of the Coral Strand Hotel you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Beau Vallon Bay over the azure blue sea to Silhouette Island, in the distance, and the horizon, where the ocean meets the sky beyond.

The superior rooms are mini-suites. Some are split-level with a spiral staircase. My absolute favourite is room 504 with the most gorgeous beach view. For families, it's best to request one of the mini-suites with a view of the pool.

 

This Hotel has 3 restaurants. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style in the large hall of the main restaurant, the Island Trader, facing the sea. Here you have a magnificent view of Silhouette and North Islands in the distance.

At the evening dinner buffet you can savour a variety of international dishes, and every Friday night there's a live band in attendance as you feast on a traditional fare.

The Bistro, the open-air restaurant and bar right beside the beach, is the place to be as the sun sets. And of course that's the place to enjoy fresh fish - the catch of the day - everyday. The sunsets at Coral Strand Hotel are incredibly beautiful especially as you sip your favourite tropical cocktail at the Bistro next to the beach.

You may also choose to dine at the Indian gourmet restaurant, the Coral Hotel's third restaurant, where they serve superb North Indian dishes.

All in all the Coral is one of the better hotel deals among hotels in Seychelles - It has a superb location, friendly staff, good food, great view on Beau Vallon Bay and the beach, a great dive centre and free water sports. All that at reasonable prices... One of the better-value budget hotels in Seychelles suitable for young families.

At the Coral Hotel room prices start at Euro 193 for a Superior double room. Hey this price won't last forever! Make a hotel reservation or research other areas on Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and the private islands.
