Did you know Beau Vallon Seychelles has one of the best beaches in these islands? We rate it among the top 10 beaches. And it is definitely the most popular beach by far with both locals and tourists alike. You'll find that 95% of visitors to Seychelles have been to Beau Vallon Beach and so should you. Here's why...
It is only 10 minutes from the capital, Victoria and also the longest beach on Mahe Island, with soft white sands and crystal clear blue sea. And the sky seems to be always blue. It is safe for swimming and snorkelling. And it is the ideal beach for families with children while all, from the most active to the elderly, can enjoy it.
You can spend an entire day at the beach of Beau Vallon Seychelles and find a whole range of activities to keep you occupied. And if you like surfing you'll be pleased to know that a good time to catch a nice wave is from November to end of February when the north winds blow onshore. For the rest of the year the sea is absolutely flat here, so it's good for other sports, including sailing when the wind blows offshore.
In keeping with its popularity, there are, along this beach, 3 major hotels as well as several smaller accommodations - B and B, vacation rentals and guesthouses. The big Beau Vallon hotels, starting from the western end of the beach, are Le Meridien Fisherman's Cove, which is a 5-star hotel, Coral Strand Hotel and Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Beach Resort. The last two are budget hotels rated 3-star.
If you get up at the crack of dawn you'll have the beach here all to yourself. But by mid afternoon it starts to get a little crowded by Seychelles standards especially on Sundays when the locals descend on the nearest, great beach to Victoria.
In Seychelles sunrise is around 6:15am, give or take 10 minutes, year round. Since Beau Vallon is on the northwest coast behind a high mountain ridge it is in the shade of the mountains for about an hour after sunrise, so it's a pleasant, cool time on that fabulous beach.
At the break of day it's a good time to walk the Beach of Beau Vallon Seychelles and watch the fishermen preparing to go out. And if you're an angler or you're after big game fish, then you should be up and about at this time too.

A day at the beach - Beau Vallon Seychelles
from Beau Vallon Bay Beach Resort - lovely
At this time of the day the beach is peaceful and you may be the only visitor among a dozen souls moving about in the cool morning sea breeze. A little later after the sun clears the mountaintops, you can watch the fishermen cast their nets not more than a hundred metres from shore.
Watch as they haul in their catch. The sea of Beau Vallon Bay is famous for its mackerels, which are caught daily. I've seen the fishermen at work at Beau Vallon Beach a hundred times and, to this day, I still find it captivating just watching them.
It's a slow process and the procedure has been passed down from father to son over centuries. You can join in too - help them pull in their nets. Why not? It's a lot of fun! Or you can catch the whole thing on film. Or just watch.
By 9:00 o'clock the fishermen have landed their first catch and more people are getting on the beach. The water-sports centres open for the day, so you can hire equipment to go kayaking, windsurfing or sail a "hobby cat" in the beautiful sea. You can rent by the hour.
If your preference is for motorized sports like jet-skiing, parasailing, water skiing or just some fast power boating then you'll have to wait for the afternoon. My personal preferred water sports are windsurfing, jet-skiing and paragliding aka parasailing.
I remember well my first time parasailing at Beau Vallon Seychelles. It was a most exhilarating experience and so too will be yours, as you look down at the beautiful beach and sea from 100 metres above and watch it glide past slowly below. Of course I could spend hours jet skiing and windsurfing too.

As the day progresses more and more people arrive to enjoy the sun, sand and sea of this amazing beach. On a typical day you could have as many as 1000 people at the beach in the afternoon while on Sundays this number could swell and double. And this is huge for a beach in Seychelles, just over a mile long.
Truth be told, the sun doesn't feel so hot here, although you would do well to cover with plenty of sunscreen. I think this has to do with a combination of the sea breezes and your continually going for a dip in the most inviting sea. But you'll roast fast here; so don't forget to apply more sunscreen after each dip.
The sea at Beau Vallon is safe and there's a lifeguard station operating every day from 9:00am to sunset. But for your own safety, remember: if you cannot swim you should not go in the sea anywhere unsupervised. And here's a different kind of warning...
At the Beach you must be very careful with your belongings. Do not leave your bag unattended while you go for a swim, as it's quite unlike the Seychelles of 50 years ago... Unfortunately now beach bums patrol Seychelles beaches looking for easy pickings.
The sun sets just before 6:30pm and Beau Vallon is a good place to watch the sun go down any day. Here you'll see some of the most fabulous sunsets you can imagine as the flaming orange ball dips and disappears into the ocean. For about half an hour the sky becomes alive with a wonderful pink afterglow and continually changing hues.
The stunning sunsets at the beach of Beau Vallon Seychelles is so amazing that some come just to watch this daily spectacle while having their favourite cocktail at one of the beach bars. Otherwise it's a free show to the accompaniment of the chirping of birds, in the nearby trees as they prepare for the long night. So grab your seat.
And at certain time of the year the additional drum-roll-like rhythm of the surf on the beach adds to the ambience and makes it even more heavenly. But remember in the tropics darkness sets in fast so by 7:00 pm it's already dark.
And so, it's already time to start thinking of food. Here you'll never be far from a café, snack bar, pool bar or restaurant of a nearby hotel. But while at Beau Vallon you should try our favourite eatery, the Boat House, a small open-air café by the roadside towards the northern end of the beach at Mare Anglaise. It's just across the road, 20 metres from the enchanting sands.
Here you'll be eating many different kinds of fish - the catch of the day - in a large number of tasty dishes. You'll be eating the freshest fish since the owners themselves are fishermen with a couple of fishing boats that go out daily. The café is just an incidental diversion. Dinner is served as a buffet and you'll be spoilt for choice.
The food they serve is simple, tasty and inexpensive - a Creole treat where you eat as much as you want for a fixed price. After spending the day at the beach here, it's my eatery of choice. But to enjoy it most you've got to get there early and sample all the many dishes.
If you are an angler and want to try your hand at big game fishing in Seychelles you are in the right place too. After dinner you can also book on the next day's fishing outing. There is also an associated "B and B" behind the eatery, so if you're thinking of fishing early morning it's a good place to stay the night.
Now go enjoy the beach of Beau Vallon Seychelles and the facilities in the area. This is one of the 10 best beaches in the Seychelles.
