Acajou Hotel Praslin, a Seychelles budget accommodation, is a very nice 3-star beach hotel located in a beautiful tropical garden, right next to that superb beach at Cote d'Or on Praslin. This is the longest beach on the island and one of the best too. It has nice calm sea throughout the year and quite shallow for at least 50 metres out, so it's suitable for kids...

The hotel is all in timber, built and decorated with mahogany (acajou) wood, making the interior somewhat dark but pleasant all the same. All the rooms have a private balcony and they all face the sea.

Acajou is located on the northern coast of Praslin, the third largest island in the Seychelles after Aldabra and Mahe. It is a rustic, peaceful, romantic little place right next to the most popular beach on Praslin. All the rooms have a view on the sea from their own private balcony. And the most beautiful white beach is only a few paces away.

The timber structure in rustic style is evocative of Praslin Island of the past. It has a total of 32 rooms divided into 2 main wings on 2 floors, and comprised of 24 standard rooms, 4 superior and 4 deluxe rooms. The rooms are large and they are all equipped with:

The rooms have great sea view and are very large with nice interior decorations. The bathrooms are comparable to that of a 4-star hotel with a very large shower and bath too.

If you are looking for some other kind of diversion and want more action, there is also a casino within walking distance of the hotel. But be aware that it is dark outside the hotel, so take a taxi if you're going out at night.

Also this is a very popular part of the island so there are several eateries in the area. Some of the best restaurants on the island are to be found along this beach. Also there are two dive centres located at nearby hotels if you want to go scuba diving.

At Acajou Praslin you may also get the chance to spot sea turtles that come ashore at night to nest on the beach. If you're interested in that kind of night adventure, talk to the hotel management and they can alert you to any turtle beaching in the area. This is the easy way.

At the Acajou Hotel there are 2 restaurants and 2 bars. The main restaurant serves breakfast and dinner. The latter is a mix between table d'hote and buffet, of both Creole and international cuisine. Breakfast is buffet style with good choice including juices, fruits, pastries and omelettes.

Lunch is a la carte in the beach bar and restaurant. Quality of food is good here. On buffet nights there is also some live entertainment and that's a couple of times a week. Enjoy it and discover the folk music and dances of Seychelles.

The beach at Cote d'Or is popular but it is still not overcrowded. In fact you'll find it semi-deserted. Hey this is Seychelles. So it does not compare with the crowded beaches you find elsewhere in the world. The hotel is very quiet and it is in a relaxing garden. The beach is quiet, the rooms, the bars and restaurants are all quiet places.

The rooms are all air conditioned and this is crucially important when you come to Seychelles from your own harsh winter. And now a word about Seychelles weather: Seychelles has a nice, moderate climate - warm weather year round, but if you arrive here from your own terribly cold winter you may think it's hot, but it isn't really. It's just that your body is not ready for summer just yet. But not to worry... Air conditioning to the rescue.

 

The main issue at this hotel is that the thin wooden partition between rooms lets through all the sounds from your neighbours' rooms, so beware. Others will hear everything - all the commotion from your own room too.

And finally, I would say this is a good hotel but don't expect gourmet meals or super luxury, and be aware that your sounds will carry through to adjacent rooms. It is intimate and Acajou Hotel is suitable for families and couples alike. It is a romantic and peaceful place - the perfect place for your honeymoon.
