We suggest starting at the homepage and exploring, perhaps checking out our blog, the FAQ page and the weather page too. You'll find these links and all the important pages listed in the left margin navigation. Here are some more tips...

Clicking the logo at the top of any page of this site always takes you back to the homepage, so you don't get lost. And at the bottom of the homepage you'll find brief descriptions of the more important pages of this site.

If you're looking for something in particular use the search-this-site facility found on every page - in both the right and left margins. Or use the "A to Z" linked from the footer of every page.

Our names are Irene and Louis. We are fortunate to live in these enchanting islands - more precisely on Mahe Island. We live very near the beach, a most beautiful beach with amazing sunsets at Beau Vallon. This is one of our 10 favourite beaches, which you'll find listed with pictures on another page.

We try to visit other islands as time permits and we return to our favourite islands and beaches often. After decades in Seychelles we are still discovering these amazing islands. :). Yes this can take a lifetime and what a journey it's been so far...

We love it so much here that we want to share it with you. We want to share these islands in our writings and pictures with the world. In our view, in spite of some huge misfortunes over the years and perhaps bad management in the more recent history, there is no place better than the Seychelles islands.

We've travelled literally around the world, from England to Australia, from Africa to China and we haven't found a better place yet. This is the place we call home although one of us was not born here. But we are now both local - Seychellois (masculine) and Seychelloise (feminine). That's what the people of Seychelles are called.

This site was started as a hobby to share our favourites - the islands and the beaches - with our friends and relatives who are far away from home, and so that they can share it with their friends too. It has grown over the short few years to become a major information centre about those tropical islands that we love so much.

There are hundreds of pages here, and more are still being added daily, through which you will discover Seychelles. What you see on your computer screen, as you go through the site, is a labour of love. We love these islands and its people. We do not hide this fact...

And it's always reflected in our writing although we try to present the facts with an open mind. We try to be objective and unbiased. We do not have any products to sell here, but this website will answer many of the questions you may have about the Seychelles Islands and its wonderful beaches. It has been called: "The Garden of Eden" - And for good reasons too, we believe.

Enjoy it and if you have any questions or want to share some of your own experiences of Seychelles after you visit these enchanting islands, you can write to us using the contact-us page, or better still, why not share with other visitors?

You can leave a story on this page - your Seychelles story where you can even upload your own favourite picture of these magnificent islands. And we'll feature your very own story on the site for posterity and for the benefit of other visitors.

So enjoy that too. Oh! We love the rain as much as when it shines. And don't be surprised to find it raining for a short time while the sun is shining brightly. See this page about the weather in Seychelles.

One other thing: If you decide to visit you may wish to consider doing so during the low season. And as you do your research, remember there is no bad time of year in Seychelles. Yes the weather is good 365 / 365. So as a home, it's second to none...

It's a great place to retire to. And many have already set up home here because of the lovely tempered climate year round. And Eden Island is only one of several new real-estate development projects that may suit your needs for a retirement home or a vacation rental. It's ideally located. There are no terrifying winds here and no winter either...

Yes you read that correctly. There are no hurricanes in Seychelles. We live outside the cyclone belt. Isn't that wonderful? So when you compare Seychelles with Mauritius, Reunion, Madagascar and the Caribbean islands remember this fact. We'll tell you more about all that throughout this site as we visit the different islands together. :).

Good day! Enjoy the site.

Irene and Louis

Note: If you're used to American English vocabulary, grammar and spelling we do beg your indulgence. Coming from the old empire!... :) We were brought up on British English and that's what we use throughout this site but we hope that this will not detract from the value of the content in here and that you'll enjoy it just as much as we have, writing and sharing.
